First Conference on Bioethics Network on Women’s Issues in the Arab Region

UNESCO, in collaboration with RDIC-BEST (Regional Documentation and Information Center for Bioethics and Ethics of Science and Technology in Egypt), launched its first conference of Bioethics Network on Women’s Issues in the Arab Region on the 7th and 8th December, 2011. The conference, titled ‘Current Challenges in Women’s Health Care and Medical Research’, invited an international speaker from Canada and national speakers from Egypt, Tunisia, Bahrain, Yemen, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Qatar and Syria to address health care and research issues in regards to women in the Arab region.

The event will be held in Cairo University Conference Center and is expected to attract audience from NGOs and governmental organizations, UN agencies, research and academic institutes and health care centers. It is expected by the end of the conference a mission, set of objectives, a structure and functions of the Bioethics Network on Women’s Issues in the Arab region would be identified.
