Amal Matar

Hello everyone, My name is Amal Matar, I am a graduate of Ain Shams University Medical School. In 2010, I was granted the Pillar Award from the Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIMR). I completed my Master of Science in Biotechnology from the American University in Cairo (AUC) and the MRERTI Certificate Program in Internal Research Ethics from the University of Maryland in 2012.  Currently, I am finishing my thesis for the fulfillment of my Masters in Arts in  Mass Communication & Journalism at AUC. I am quite excited to be part of the MERETI Network and to actively participate in the website. It is a great way to learn

Hi, my name is Isabelle Nakhla and  I have enjoyed an immensely successful career at the US Naval Medical Research Unit #3 (NAMRU-3) serving as a Principal or Associate Investigator on a broad range of studies. Since 1997, I have served as a member of the IRB at NAMRU-3 and as Chair or Vice-Chairman since 2002. I was a MERETI trainee in 2005.Outside of NAMRU-3, I remain busy working with numerous organizations, including the Egyptian Society for Health Care Development (ESHD), where I have had the opportunity to spread awareness about research ethics and conduct workshops for Egyptian scientists and researcher in the field of  clinical trials design and Good Clinical Practice.

Hi everyone. My name is Rehab Abdelhai, and I hold the position of an Associate Professor at the Public Health Department, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. I am also an alumnus of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where I obtained an M.Sc. degree in 2003. I was a MERETI trainee 2009. Since then I have initiated an elective course addressing research ethics for the M.Sc. students at the Public Health Department as well as a similar course at the Arab Academy of Science, Technology and Marine Transport. I am currently a member of the Kasr Al Ainy Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. I have had the opportunity to participate in multiple workshops and trainings addressing research ethics and human subjects’ protection

Azza Saleh

Hi everybody, I am Azza Saleh Radwan, a Prof. of Clinical and Chemical Pathology at Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) and a holder of the International Certificate in Research Ethics from University of Maryland, USA.  I am the Moderator of TBRI – IRB since 2006.  I am the co-coordinator of the Egyptian Network of Research Ethics Committees (ENREC) and a member of the Technical Committee of Regional Documentation and Information Center of Bioethics and Ethics of Science and Technology. I serve as an ambassador for the MARC (Mapping African Research Ethics Review Capacity). I have participated in regional and international workshops in research ethics and teach research ethics in the Faculty and Leadership Development Center (FLDC) of Cairo University.
