Tunisia March 24, 2011 – The support of cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research was the most prominent focus of a meeting on Wednesday between Mr. Refaat Chaabouni Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Rudy Dimut, Governor of Wallonia Province and the Head of Francophone Organization of Belgium, during his visit to Tunisia.

The Belgian official expressed his admiration of the Tunisian revolution, which he said represented a unique event in the contemporary history of the country. It drew the attention of the international arena. He stressed the readiness of Wallonia county and the Francophone community of Belgium to support the path of democratic transformation the country is currently expreincing.

On the prospects of cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research, Dimut pointed out that Tunisia has the relevant young and competent human resources who can be employed for development based on training, research and innovation. He expressed his readiness to inrease the exchange of students, professors and researchers between the 2 countries and generate bilateral collaboration programs.

For his part, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research is confident that the transition experienced by Tunisia holds promising prospects for enhanced international cooperation in the field of academia and scientific research.

He stressed the opportunity exists  to strengthen the current cooperation between Tunisia and the Belgian province, Wallonia through the development of new programs aimed particularly at improving the employemnt of unviersity graduates, improving institutions and validating the scientific reserch results.
